Our Mission:

Student ministry is a huge part of Discovery Church! We know that middle school and high school is an exciting but also trying time. During these transformative years, students are more receptive to Christ and most in need of an accepting community. At Discovery we provide a place where teenagers can find both. Our goal is to help middle school and high school students develop a faith that is Personal, a faith revealing their Purpose, and a faith filled with Power.

On Sundays:

In addition to our church-wide services we have two gatherings specific to students. On Sunday mornings at 9:30am we have Ekplesso. The Bible tells us that upon hearing Jesus people were often "astounded." That word is translated from Greek the word Ekplesso. On Sundays our goal is to dive a little deeper into God's word and experience Ekplesso!

On Wednesdays:

On Wednesdays at 6:00pm we have Disruption. Filled with games, music, food and fun – at Disruption middle school and high school students can give God a chance to disrupt their lives and learn to be disruptive for Him.

Believe (Grades 6-8)

Believe is a weekend event hosted by Christ In Youth, an organization that has been putting together age-intentional events all over the world for more than 45 years. Taking place in a large auditorium, Believe gives middle school students the opportunity to worship alongside thousands of other people their age. This year we will be joined by: Kurt Johnson – a hilarious communicator, illusionist Zak Mirzadeh, and band Relevant Worship. The 2019 theme asks the question, “Who Am I?” and answers: “I Am Who God Says I Am.”

Mission Fuge (Grades 9-12)

MFuge is five day a mission/camp experience for students from all over the United States. The week will take place on the campus of Charleston Southern University with worship lead by speaker Patrick Stalnaker and musician Josh Defriese. At MFuge, students get to experience a camp atmosphere as well as hands on ministry. Each day will begin with the entire camp together before students are sent off with their mission group to a ministry-site within the community of Charleston, SC. Ministry sites are selected based on a student’s preference. Sites range from painting, yard-work, leading activates for children, and serving at homeless shelters. After a day of service and ministry, students return to campus for dinner and camp-wide worship.

Along with the opportunity to learn more about ministry through service, this week also allows our students to grow closer as a group. We will be housed together in the dorms of Charleston Southern University, share meals together in the dining hall, and end each day with a meeting time just for our students.

Centrifuge (Grades 6-8)

Centrifuge is a camp experience where students from all over the United States will join for five days to live, play, and worship together. The week will take place on the campus of Charleston Southern University with worship lead by speaker Patrick Stalnaker and musician Josh Defriese. At Centrifuge, students get to experience large group worship with hundreds of their peers as well as deeper learning in small group Bible studies. They will experience massive games and exciting challenges during recreation. And they will have the opportunity to select “track times” based on their individual preference; ranging from active games, creative arts, performance and discipleship.

This week will also offer our students the opportunity to grow closer as a group. We will be housed together in the dorms of Charleston Southern University, share meals together in the dining hall, and end each day with a meeting time just for our students.
