Discovery Christian Church is a young and growing church with a big heart for serving others. Launched in 2011 in a local YMCA, Discovery now meets in a modern, open facility on 80 acres of land. With an average weekly attendance of around 550 and steady growth over the past four years, our church is rooted in Bible-based teaching, a strong emphasis on prayer, deep community engagement, and a passion for creativity.

Job Summary

The Creative Arts Director at Discovery Christian Church is a full-time leadership position responsible for shaping the visual and creative identity of the church across all platforms. From overseeing sermon series aesthetics and social media to managing video content, photography, and digital presence, this role ensures a consistent, compelling representation of Discovery’s message and ministries.

The Creative Arts Director will work closely with church staff, volunteers, and ministry leaders to develop innovative and visually engaging ways to communicate the Gospel, promote church events, and reflect the heart of Discovery in everything we produce.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Leadership & Vision

· Champion Discovery’s mission, vision, and values through all creative output.

· Serve as the gatekeeper for all visual content across digital, print, and video media.

· Oversee and unify the look and feel of Discovery’s aesthetic across ministries (Youth, Adult, Worship, etc.) and platforms (social media, website, app, etc.).

· Lead the Creative Arts Team, including volunteer recruitment, training, and development.

Content Creation & Management

· Produce and manage content for Discovery's website, app, and social media platforms.

· Create sermon series graphics, worship slides, promotional materials, and videos.

· Write and edit copy for digital platforms including website pages, social posts, and email campaigns.

· Maintain a well-organized content library with easy access to relevant assets.

Media Production

· Capture and edit high-quality videos and photos of events, services, and stories within the church (e.g., baptisms, outreach events, kids/youth programs).

· Lead the production of sermon bumper videos, announcement slides, and promotional media.

· Manage all aspects of media production: scripting, shooting, editing, and publishing.

Digital Strategy & Oversight

· Maintain Discovery’s website with timely, relevant, and visually excellent content.

· Strengthen Discovery’s social media presence (e.g., Instagram, Facebook) with curated, original content aligned with church values.

· Monitor and analyze engagement to improve performance and reach.

Collaboration & Communication

· Work closely with the Worship Pastor, Teaching Pastor, and Ministry Leaders to plan and support content for services and events.

· Collaborate with ministry leaders to ensure their communications align with the overall church aesthetic and audience.

· Attend key staff meetings and creative team gatherings to support cross-ministry alignment.

Aesthetic Consistency & Quality Control

· Ensure aesthetic consistency by implementing and maintaining Discovery’s style guide (fonts, color schemes, terminology, logo usage).

· Review and approve all creative work before publication to maintain excellence and cohesion.

· Stay current on design trends, church communication best practices, and digital engagement strategies.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

· Strong background in graphic design, videography, photography, and digital media.

· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.) or equivalent tools.

· Experience managing websites, social media accounts, and digital platforms.

· High attention to detail with a strong sense of visual storytelling.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

· Demonstrated leadership ability, including training and empowering volunteers.

· Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently and with a team.

· Professional, punctual, and reliable.

· Able to clearly communicate vision to others and lead with humility and grace.
