Our society is filled with so many things that are competing for the hearts and minds of your kids. At Discovery Church we want to partner with and equip parents like you as you lead your children to discover Jesus and their place in His story. Discovery Kids is committed to supporting families through providing curriculum and programming that is relevant, engaging, and age-appropriate.
On Sundays:
Our Sunday morning services is designed for children ages birth-5th grade. We use a curriculum from Group Publishing called Hands-On for our Preschool - 5th graders.. We love it for several reasons, but one of the primary reasons is because it touches each learning style our kids have. They hear the story. They see it demonstrated through an object lesson or activity and finally they experience it through touch by taking part in a craft, activity or experiment that engages those learners who understand best through tactile actions. Our toddler class uses a Singing Praise curriculum from Group Publishing that allows them to study the same lesson 5 weeks in a row. It combines the lesson being taught with video and music that reinforces the teachers presentation. Our kids love both curriculums and our leaders love how every action, activity and craft ties back into the lesson and really drives the theme of the day home!
On Wednesdays:
Our midweek programming is available for all children birth - 5th grade. Kids are divided into nursery, toddler, preschool and five elementary classes. We use Word of Life curriculum for all classes on Wednesdays. Preschool and Kindergarten are in their own classes and study Gopher Buddies curriculum. From there, our classes are broken down as follows: 1st and 2nd grade girls, 1st and 2nd grade boys, 3rd -5th grade girls and 3rd - 5th grade boys. We use Olympians curriculum, also from Word of Life. The grade breakdowns allow us to present the lessons in age appropriate ways. The curriculum encourages scripture memorization and rewards the kids for saying their verses and completing their daily devotions in the books we provide. For doing these things, they’ll earn gold, silver and bronze medals. Kindergarten - 5th graders come together at the end of each week for a fun, exciting and team building game time.
Nursery care is provided for parents who remain onsite attending one of our adult small groups. We meet each Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:30 pm and dinner is provided.
